LINCOLN - Joseph Edward Kattelman, 82, of Lincoln died at 4:55 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at Christian Village Nursing Home in Lincoln.
He was born Nov. 2, 1924, in Quincy, the son of William Conrad and Josephine Meyer Kattelman. He married Laura Mae Sash on June 29, 1947, in Pittsfield; she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1996. Four brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
Mr. Kattelman graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1942. He was employed by GTE for 35 years, retiring as district manager. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, and was a member of American Legion Post 263.
Surviving are three daughters, Mona Bishop of Lincoln, Sandy (Damon) Dutz of Mankato, Minn., and Laura (Jim) Raycraft of Williamsville; a son, Mark (Angie) Kattelman of Normal; three brothers, Robert (Norma) Kattelman of Pittsfield, Jim (Carol) Kattelman of Iowa and Tom (Mary) Kattelman of Bethalto; two sisters, LaVerta Scheiter of Quincy and Betty Yokum of Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007, Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ryan Edgecomb officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Union Cemetery in Lincoln, where full military rites will be accorded.
