Leigh Ann Hanselman
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Leigh Ann Hanselman, 60, died at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2014, at her home surrounded by her family.
Leigh Ann was born Feb. 19, 1954, in Anniston, Ala., the daughter of Robert and Betty Gurisco Corrigan. She married Michael "Heiney" Hanselman on April 19, 1974, at Christ the King Catholic Parish.
Leigh Ann was a 1972 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and attended Lincoln Land Community College and Sangamon State University. She worked for three years at Baker's True Value, three years at Toddle Town Day Care, 33 years at Sangamon Area Special Education District coordinating preschool development screening, and one year as a parent educator for Virden Parent Place. Leigh Ann was a member of Church of the Little Flower and enjoyed flower and plant gardening. She also enjoyed putting a lot of thought into buying gifts for others on their birthday and Christmas, was an avid shopper, enjoyed cooking, loved shoes, and enjoyed traveling.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Corrigan; grandparents; mother-in-law, Irmgard Clayton; and two best friends, Mary and Cheri.
She is survived by her husband, Michael "Heiney" Hanselman of Springfield; one son, Aaron (wife, Danielle) Hanselman of Springfield; one daughter, Bree Hanselman of Springfield; three grandchildren, Eric, Austin and Ella; mother, Betty Corrigan of Chatham; one brother, Michael (wife, Melissa) Corrigan of Greenbrier, Ark.; two sisters, Candace Powers and Caroline Fitzsimmons, both of Chatham; one aunt, Luan Corrigan (spouse, Kit Stromberger) of Norcross, Ga.; one uncle, Dean (wife, Mary) Newton of North Little Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law, Beth Hanselman of Springfield; nieces and nephews, Cody, Jake, Caleb, Corrie, Becky, Ryan, Chris, Mark and Laura; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and beloved dogs, Izzy and Kaiser.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m.–12:15 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at Church of the Little Flower, with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz, principal celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to Virden Parent Place, 18718 State Rte. 4, Virden, IL 62690, St. John's Children's Hospital, 800 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL 62769, or Central Illinois Food Bank, 1937 E. Cook, Springfield, IL 62794-8228.

Mike and Family, my heart breaks for you. Leigh was an extraordinary woman and I feel so blessed to have gotten the chance to know her. The CWLP entry to the Christmas Parade would not have been the "winner" that it was without the help and spirit of your family and the sound of Leigh's laughter.
