Marion Febus Obituary
Taylorville, IL—Marion "Vicky" Vick Febus, 93, of Taylorville, formerly of Springfield and Illiopolis, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born November 9, 1924, on Pyatt-Cutler Road, Perry County, near Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Claude E. and Mary Margaret "Margie" (Pyatt) Vick. She married Dean Febus on June 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1960.
Mrs. Febus graduated from Springfield High School in 1941, received a BS from Millikin University in 1945, and a MA from U of I, Springfield, in 1973. She retired in 1984 after teaching for 31 years in Springfield and Illiopolis school districts. She was a member of Illiopolis Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Illiopolis Community Service Club, the Kitchen Band, and Illio Gals of Illiopolis. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, a life member of IEA/NEA – Retired, LLRTA, and Springfield Area Retired Teachers Club.
Surviving her are two sons, Robert D. (Janice) of Taylorville, IL, and James A. (Patricia) of DeForest, WI; grandchildren, Matthew Febus of Beloit, WI; Todd Febus (Mandy) of Windsor, WI; Nicole Febus of Chicago, IL; and Kristin (John "Wick") Foster of Coralville, IA; great-granddaughters, Addison Febus, Windsor, WI; Miriam and Eileen Foster, Coralville, IA; and brother Robert E. Vick of Marblehead, MA.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. on Monday January 8, 2018 at Illiopolis Christian Church with Reverend Melissa Ebken officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Illiopolis.
Memorials may be made to Illiopolis Christian Church or Springfield Area Retired Teachers Club.
