Mary Eaton
SPRINGFIELD, IL - Mary Eaton, 94, died at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at Concordia Village.
Mary was born Jan. 22, 1919, in Peoria. She was the youngest of five children of John and Theresa Dempsey. On Nov. 16, 1940, Mary married Walt, the love of her life. They lived in their family home in Peoria for 42 years. Together they raised two children, Carol Clouser Noe (husband, Ralph) of Loami and Bob Eaton (wife, Jodi) of Golden, Colo.
Although she worked at both Armour Packing Co. and Logan Printing Co. in Peoria, Mary's best work was in her role as a wonderful wife and a great mother. She has always taken a real interest in being around people and people have always found her interesting to be around. Her philosophy of life was that we need to do a good deed each day. She lived it fully.
Mary and Walt moved to Sherman and lived at Villa Vianney for 24 years. They were married for 62 years when Walt died in 2003. Mary lived at both Bickford House and Concordia Village. Mary was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Peoria and is a member of St. John Vianney Parish in Sherman. Her immediate family also includes many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary has donated her body to science.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Concordia Village, 4101 W. Iles Ave., Springfield, IL on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, beginning with a memorial mass at 10:30 a.m.

Bob, Carol, Molly, Ralph, and all of the family of Mary. My prayers are with you during this difficult time. I was given the privilege to care for Mary in assisted living, and she was quite the pistol. Always putting others before her. Her strength and graciousness should be a lesson to us all. She will be sadly missed by all. How fortunate for you to have had her for so many happy years. May all of the wonderful memories you hold guide and comfort you during this difficult time.
