Patrick Giordano 1951 - 2021
Newburgh, IN—Patrick Giordano, 69, of Newburgh, IN, and formerly of Springfield, IL, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Signature Health Care. He was born September 18, 1951 in Springfield, IL to the late Carl and Louise (Gentile) Giordano.
Pat graduated from Griffin High School and the University of Illinois in Springfield, IL. Pat was a jailor and Deputy Sheriff for Sangamon County. He became the Chief of Police and owned a gun shop in Grandview, IL. Pat later worked for the EPA in Springfield and the Illinois Department of Agriculture where he wrote a manual for Prime Farmland Reclamation. He also worked for the Alliance Pipeline in La Salle-Peru, IL and retired from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Pat was a negotiator and member of the AFSCME Union. He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield, IL and a current member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Evansville. Pat volunteered with CASA. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Pat is survived by his wife of 49 years, Anita (Kyle) Giordano; daughters, Jennifer (Michael) Patrick, Carla (Sean) Bagbey, and Rachel Giordano; grandchildren, Jasmine Dopp, Alyssa Patrick, William Patrick, Noah Bagbey, and Ainsley Bagbey; brother, Carl Lee (Martha) Giordano; sister, Paula (Keith) Moore and Nancy (Thomas) Curry; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his sister, Clara Marie Krumweide and brother, Louis Giordano.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road with Father Bernie Etienne officiating. The service will be live-streamed on the Ziemer Funeral Home and Cremation Services' Facebook page 20 minutes prior to the start of the service.
Burial will be at a later date in Springfield, IL.
