Phyllis Sektnan Obituary

Phyllis Sektnan
Oct. 8, 1929 ~ Nov. 3, 2014
Former Pleasanton Resident
Phyllis Sektnan, beloved mother, grandmother and friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 3rd, in Reno, Nevada. Phyllis was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota on October 8th, 1929. She was the only daughter of Henry and Carrie Larson.
As a young woman, Phyllis served and traveled extensively with the US Naval reserves. Besides raising her two children, this is one of her proudest accomplishments. Some of her fondest memories took place alongside her beloved husband,
Marv Sektnan, enjoying the Washington, DC, political circuit prior to moving to California. She spent the remainder of her career working with the Social Security Administration in California. During her retirement she lived a well traveled, graceful life devoted to and enjoying her friends and her church, Valley Christian Center in Pleasanton, CA.
Our mother and friend fought the battle with dementia and Parkinsons with courage, class and humor to the end. She now rests peacefully as our guardian angel and will be greatly missed . She is preceded in death by her husband, Marv Sektnan. Phyllis is survived by her son Mark Sektnan, his wife Judy and their children Chelsea and Bryan, as well as her daughter, best friend, confidante and caretaker, Shellie Sektnan-Fisher and her husband Brian Fisher and his children Clint and Shanan.
There will be a celebration of Life this Saturday, November 8th from 11:00 to 2:00 at Handles Gastropub in Pleasanton CA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Alzheimers or Parkinsons charity.
