Robert Gilbert Obituary
He is predeceased in death by his parents William and Arlene Gilbert and a brother Billy Gilbert. He is survived by brother Chad Gilbert of FL. daughter Paige Shilling of PA, two grandsons, and four nieces, Uncles Aubrey Gilbert of Elba, AL and Tony Ray Gilbert of KY.
Bob was a former horse jockey and a carpenter. He loved the outdoors and had a passion for fishing and hunting. Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

I grew up with Bobby in N.Y. We were best friends. He taught me how to fish. Every time I go fishing I always think of Bobby. We went to alot of concerts in NYC. We worked at Belmont together Saratoga, Hialiha and others. He went on to be a jockey, I joined the marines. I knew his family well. I was trying to find him on Facebook and I came accross his passing. I can't believe it. My prayers to his family. Stevie Chap, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

You will be missed my friend. You were the king of the one liners.. you tought me well,and I have carried that legacy on. Now you and Richard try not to get kicked out of the water park,or the go karts up there.May God bless you and your family.

Uncle Bob will never be forgotten! He always had a joke or a comment to make me smile. He reminded me of Grandpa in so many ways.I tell you main it was the biggest one I eba saw. Ba-didda ba-didda King Mackerel. I shared soo so many jokes and laughs with him. I will miss him tremendously. Give Great Grandma, Grandma and Grandpa hugs for me. I love you Uncle Bob.

I cant believe Bobby has passed. I knew him very well from Delaware Park. Bessie and Richard Gruwell trained horses for us and he galloped horses. We were all at their wedding in Fairhill. That was the good ole days. Bobby was their best man. Him and Richard were two peas in a pod. I still have pictures of all of us dancing. WHAT A GREAT PERSON HE WAS !! Hey Bobby, give Richard a big hug for me. Love ya Both !!

Bobby always made people smile. He had a zest for living life and enjoying himself. As Ross said, he never had a bad word to say about anyone. I am sad that he had to leave us too soon. Rest in peace Bob, make everyone in heaven laugh now!

It has been several years since I've seen Bobby but I am so sad to hear this tragic news. Bobby was a talented rider with a smile and a laugh for everyone. Even though it has been a long time, I have fond memories of him and will miss him.

Another friend leaving this world too soon. Bobby served as Best Man in my wedding, way back in 1985 (Nancy was a bridesmaid and Paige was my flowergirl, Bobby and Richard shared a lot of laughs and had a lot of fun at the track galloping horses. He did his best to be a great dad, I will always remember all the good times we had together. He will always be with me in my heart and he will be greatly missed. I'll miss hearing him laugh. I want to thank everyone who was there for my dad. He was a special person!
