Ronald Kulek Obituary

Ronald J. "Ron" Kulek 1954 - 2020
Riverton, IL—Ronald J. "Ron" Kulek, 66, of Riverton, died at 8:40 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2021 at his residence.
Ron was born on September 12, 1954 in Springfield, the son of Edmond James and Mary Agnes Duncheon Kulek. He married Cindy Burns on April 7, 1973 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Springfield.
Ron was a 1972 graduate of Griffin High School. For over 30 years he was a general contractor for his business, Kulek Construction. Ron was known for marching to the beat of his own drum. He lived in what his family affectionally referred to as "Ron's World" and operated on his own time. As an avid outdoorsman, he had a passion for hunting, taxidermy, fishing, craftsmanship, and most of all, gardening, cooking, and showing goats with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donald Kulek.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Kulek of Riverton; one son, Jimmy (wife, Kristina) Kulek of Dawson; one daughter, Valerie (husband, Colby) Hall of Spaulding; four grandchildren, Brooke (husband, Cole) Schaive of OK, Brandi (husband, Austin) Mulligan of Williamsville, and Carson and Caleigh Hall of Spaulding; five great-grandchildren, Bostyn, Berkley, Baylor, Finnley, and Bexley; one brother; two sisters; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Ceremony: 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Butler Funeral Home-Springfield, 900 S. Sixth St., Springfield, with Rev. David Gessaman officiating. Family will receive friends following the ceremony until 7:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions there will be limited capacity.

We are so sorry for the loss of your husband, Dad and Grandpa. We always enjoyed talking to Ron. He built our business building and the addition to our kitchen. We had many laughs. He was a character. He will be missed by so many. Our deepest sympathies, Dennis and Karen Overturf

I babysat Ron as a child and he was always referred to as "little rock, rock" or "rockin' Ronnie" as he got older. He earned those titles early on because there wasn't a couch or chair he sat in without making it or himself "rock". What a delightful, funny child/person to grow up across the street. North 22nd street lost another good soul. Rest in peace. Prayers for the family. God Bless you.
