Ronald J. Rieman
SPRINGFIELD – Ronald J. Rieman, 70, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015, after a battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 2, 1944, to Herman and Rose T. (Kollar) Rieman. He married Janet Behen in Springfield on May 11, 1968. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Richard Rieman.
Ron was an engineer with the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He was co-owner and operator of Gietl & Gietl Floor Covering. He was a carpenter and member of Carpenter's Local 16. He was a member of the DAV and American Legion Post 32.
He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter, Jana (Dan) Scherf of Eagan, Minn.; son, Michael (Michelle) Rieman of Springfield; grandchildren, Kelsey Scherf, Kieran Rieman, Donald Scherf and Draven Rieman; brother, Bill (Donna) Rieman of Lincoln; sister, Jane (Robert) Day of California; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Per Ron's request, cremation will be accorded and no immediate services are planned. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Please join family and friends at a Celebration of Life for Ron Rieman at the American Legion Post 32 on Saturday, August 29th. Their address is 1120 Sangamon Ave in Springfield, Il 62702. Per Ron's request, there will be no formal service. You are welcome to just drop in any time between 1:00 and 4:00 and share your memories. It is very casual and food and drink will be provided. An invitation is not required so please help us spread the word. If you would like to RSVP (not required), you can send an e-mail to [email protected]. Hope to see you there.

Ron was one of my favorite customers at Shop-N-Save. He was always good for a laugh and could help turn a bad day around just seeing him walk in the door. Prayers to the family at this time.
