Ruthann Newman-Hunter-Okafor Obituary
SPRINGFIELD - Ruthann Newman-Hunter-Okafor, 61, of Springfield, went home to be with the Lord at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2009.
Ruth worked for many years as an administrative assistant in the legal field.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory, a daughter, Riccarda Boudreaux; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; father, Robert N. Sr. (wife, Sarah) Newman; siblings, Robert Jr. (wife, Cynthia), John Ricardo, Terry (Michelle) Graham, Michael (Melissa) Newman, Linda Bryant and Toni Newman; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many many friends.

No matter how many years go by or how many miles are between us, you will always be close to my heart. I loved Ruthann. She was always the one who was the designated babysitter when Mom and Aunt Linny went out. As Carmen and I talked about it, she was only a teenager at that time and was teaching us how to be young ladies and making sure we stayed in line, all in the name of love. May God keep his loving arms around all of you as you deal with such a great loss. I love you Toni, Linda, Ricky and Bobby and last but not least Uncle Bob.

As I was growing up, I had three moms, Little Sis, Aunt Linnie and Ruthann. Ruthann watched after us and made sure we didn't get into too much trouble. With age I came to realize how important that was during those years in our lives. As a grown woman it was just a pleasure to be around her. Years ago I met Ruth when she was looking to purchase a vehicle and we hit it off wonderfully. She was so sweet and loving and always had a kind word, as well as a big hug whenever we saw each other later. I am saddened by her passing but happy for her having had the privilege to know her.
