Sarah Jayne Dunbar 1969 - 2017
Dwight, IL—Sarah Jayne Dunbar, 48, passed away June 27, 2017 at Presence Saint Joseph's Medical Center, Joliet, IL. She was born June 22, 1969 at St. Joseph Hospital, Murphysboro, IL to Irving Leon Dunbar and Nancy Baker Dunbar.
When the family moved to Springfield, IL in 1973, she attended Hay-Edwards special education classes and District 186 Special Education Center. Since May 1982, she was a resident of Wm. W. Fox Developmental Center, Dwight, IL.
Sarah Jayne is survived by her father and stepmother, Irving and Carol (Bray) Dunbar; mother, Nancy B. Dunbar; dearest big sister, Betsy K. Dunbar, all of Springfield; and several cousins, including Scott and Lynne Baker of St. Peters, MO. Her brother, Martin Leon Dunbar; grandparents, Van M. and Jennie Mae Dunbar, Delno M. and Berthene Baker, and uncle, Richard E. Baker, Esq. preceded her in death. She was an organ donor through the Gift of Hope.
A Celebration of Life and visitation will take place from 4 P.M. to 6 P.M., Tuesday, August 1st at Weber Lounge, Central Baptist Church, 501 S. 4th, Springfield, the Rev. Mary Ellen Sharp presiding. (Call 217-523-3639 for directions.)
A funeral service was held at Shephard Chapel, with interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis, MO on July 7, 2017, the Rev. Dr. Malcolm G. Shotwell, officiant.
