Sophia Bartoletti Obituary

Sophia Bartoletti 1917 - 2019
Springfield, IL—Sophia Bartoletti, 101, of Springfield, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2019 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village.
Sophia was born October 31, 1917 to Torquato "Tony" and Amabile "Mable" Menghini Bartoletti.
Sophia attended Stuart Grade School and Feitshans High School. After her schooling, she worked in several ice cream parlors and tea rooms which she enjoyed very much. She eventually decided to get a "real job" and went to work at Allis-Chalmers where she remained for 35 years.
Sophia was a very devout Catholic. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the St. Louise de Marillac Guild, Fiat Allis Retirees, and the Brinkerhoff Home. Sophia did volunteer work for St. John's Hospital, the St. Louise de Marillac Guild, and the Brinkerhoff Home. She visited the nursing homes for Christ the King Parish for 17 years and delivered meals on Wheels. Sophia liked movies, TV, reading, and doing crossword puzzles. She also loved the Chicago Cubs and was a true fan.
She was loved by everyone she knew because of her kind and sympathetic nature. Their problems and trials became hers. Her instantaneous and sweet smile charmed everyone she knew or met.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Erma.
She is survived by her sister, Norma Bartoletti; many cousins both in the United States and Europe; and many caring friends.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Christ the King Parish, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield.
Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Christ the King Parish, with Rev. Joseph G. Ring celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please give to the charity of your choice.

My family is very sorry to learn of Sophia's
passing. My folks always spoke so lovingly of Sofi. I remember her (and Norma) from their years of volunteering at the Brinkerhoff Home.

Norma, so sorry to hear of the passing of your sister. I didn't know her, but if she was anything like you I know she was sweet and kind. I have so many memories of your support and presence after the loss of so many of my family, including your God son Randy. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely, Crystal Ferreira
