Stanley E. "Gene" Struckley
VIRDEN - Stanley E. "Gene" Strukely, 79 of Virden, IL passed away at 8:40 a.m. Sunday April 22, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.
Gene was born June 11, 1932 in Virden, IL a son of Stanley F. and Mabel (Thomas) Strukely. Gene was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Korea. He was a 50-year member of the Virden American Legion Post # 386, Virden, IL. A 50 year member of the Auburn V.F.W. Post # 8157 in Auburn, IL and a 50 year member of the Virden Masonic Lodge # 161 A.F. & A.M. Virden, IL and a 32nd degree Mason. Gene retired as a machinist for Freeman United coal Company in 1993. He married Lou Ann Reed on Nov. 17, 1956 in Virden, IL. Gene was an avid Cubs fan.
Surviving Gene is his wife, Lou Ann Strukely of Virden, IL a Special Great Niece, Amy S. Jenkins of Girard, IL, a Special Great Great Niece Mazi Grace Jenkins of Girard, IL and a Special Nephew, Todd (Heather) Kozicky of Sedgewickville, MO, sister Delores Seman of Springfield, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday April 24, 2012 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home, Virden, IL with masonic services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 25, 2012 at the Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery, Virden, IL. Memorials may be made to the Prairieland Ambulance, Virden, IL. Please visit calvert-ferryfuneralhomes.com to leave a comment for the family.
