I remember an occasion when Elder Elliott recited a poem on stage . Dressed in his green fur lined hooded coat ( fake fur) and I think the poem was called Annabel Lee. His by memory rendition inspired me to go on and write 1000 poems. Adieu dear friend until we meet again, beyond, among the many to teach once again.

Only last night, a friend asked me about my sister's boys and I had to say I wasn't sure where any of them were, now. Only minutes later, I learned that Steve had passed away. Those of you who have commented, here, that he made you smile or laugh - I think he got that from my father, his grandfather, who liked to make Steve, as well as other people, laugh with puns, pranks, and silly jokes. I regret that Steve and I could not stay in touch so that we could make each other laugh. My sympathy to family, friends, students, and anyone who valued Steve's presence in their lives.

I had the privilege of living with Steve for 3 months in Ireland as his missionary companion. He was a great mentor and friend, and just reminiscing brings a smile to my face. Such a great spirit! So caring. . . and so funny! Rest in peace, my friend.

My condolences to all the family at this time. I never would have thought this departure would have affected me after such a long interval after our mission. I remember a rendition he gave of a poem he memorised along with two elders who dressed as husky dogs. It became an turning point for me when I started writing poetry. God bless you all. I look forward to meeting Steven again in the eternities .

Great teacher who will forever come to mind when I think of the phrase, "close but no cigar." He always made his students laugh and could always cheer them up when they had a hard day. Mr Elliot, you will always be missed & I will always remember getting to draw pictures on my trig tests!
