Susan E. Senger
SPRINGFIELD - Susan E. Senger, 70, of Springfield, died at 9:20 pm, Thursday, July 5, 2012, at St. Joseph's Home. She was born January 30, 1942 in Centralia to William H. and Clara M. Flanrey Gschwend. She married Lawrence "Larry" L. Senger on January 25, 1964 and he survives.
Also surviving are her children, Laura (Craig) Reiser of Springfield, Mark (Jackie) Senger of Gurnee and Rebecca (Joel) Antonacci of Springfield; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Luke, Carl, Maxwell, Will, Katherine and Teresa; one brother, William J. Gschwend of Port St. Lucie, FL; one uncle, one nephew and several cousins.
Susan attended St. Mary's Grade School in Centralia and Centralia High School. She had an outstanding academic career including a master's degree in nursing from University of Illinois at Chicago. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish; Illinois Nurses Association; Blessed Sacrament Choir, and Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. She worked for U of I Chicago Department of Specialized Care for Children as a Nursing Consultant and was previously employed by St. John's Hospital. Throughout her nursing career she touched the lives of countless patients and families. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Adult Day Care and Hospice Programs at St. John's Hospital.
Beyond her love and dedication to her family and friends Susan enjoyed singing, gardening, bird watching, cooking and reading.
In honor of her wishes the family would like to request memorial gifts to Blessed Sacrament School Library or St. Joseph's Home.
Visitation: 4-7 pm Monday, July 9, 2012, at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4 pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

my prayers will always stay with sue' she was my friend as my resadent. She was a very careing and smart lady . She loved to read and knew what shows was on what channels,on tv. Must say she was very much awhere of her life. will miss her in my heart and on a day to day bases. We hed a closs friendship and talked to each other with are eyes. my toughts are with the family now.

My sympathy to Sue's family. I was in her nursing class at St John's, worked in the same building as Day Care and Hospice, and knew her at BSC. Always nice, lots of memories. Out of town for services, but you are in my prayers.
