ALBERT FAGAN Obituary

December 2, 1942 -
May 3, 2018

Albert (Al) Fagan, 75, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2018 in Mount Vernon.

He was born December 2, 1942 in Arlington, WA to Dorothy Fagan. He attended school in Mount Vernon. In high school, he excelled in sports, being a State finisher in wrestling, and a well known lineman on the football team.

After graduation, he attended Everett Junior College, again excelling in football. While attending EJC, he was contacted by the BC Lions football organization to try out for their team. The next day, he received word that he was being drafted into the Army. While in the service, he became an MP/dog Handler. He trained war dogs to be sent to Vietnam to help their handlers. His main job was as a guard/MP, guarding the Nike Hercules Atomic Missiles on the Presidio in San Francisco.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, he was hired by the Snohomish Co. Sheriff's Dept., which led to him having a career in law enforcement, including the Skagit Co. Sheriff's office, Concrete Town Marshall, and Upper Skagit Tribal Police.

Al married his true love, Linda (Evans) Fagan in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, son Mike and his wife Angie, son Dan and his wife Harmony, his brother Charles Paul White and wife Kathy, and grandson Justin.

He was predeceased in death by his mother Dorothy and brother Ron Fagan.

Al was proud of being one of the people who started the Little League football program (PeeWees) while living in Concrete. He also helped in the high school with the wrestling program.

At his request, there will be no services. The family will gather for private services this summer.

"The tide recedes but leaves behind bright seashells on the sand, the sun goes down but gentle warmth still lingers on the land.

The music stops, & yet it echoes on in sweet refrains... For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains."

Linda, I am smiling as I write this. As a rookie deputy, I always had a blast with Al. He truly understood community policing. He was courageous, honest and fair. I will have memories of Al forever.

Al was a wonderful man. Even though it's been well over 20 years since I saw him last I've never forgotten his warmhearted personality. Linda, may you and the family be comforted in your loss. God bless you!

Al Fagan, way such a kind good person. And I admired him too as a terrific HS football player. The MV Bulldogs were NW League Champions all three years he was a starter, and Al was the NW League 1st Team Player both his Junior and Senior years. Al also qualified for the Washington State wrestling Championships in Pullman his junior and senior year too
