Burlington - Alice Hoover McConnell was born on October 30, 1933, in Buena, Washington, to Ethel and Charles Hoover. She grew up in the Yakima Valley and graduated from Toppenish High School in 1951. She went on to attend Yakima Junior College, graduating in 1953. It was during her time there that she met the love of her life, Charles "Chuck" McConnell. Alice continued her education at La Verne College in California, earning her degree in 1955.
On August 22, 1954, Alice and Chuck were married at the Buena Methodist Church, beginning a remarkable journey of love and partnership that lasted 70 years. They built a beautiful life together, most of it rooted in Sedro-Woolley, a town they both cherished.
Alice was a keen observer of the world. She faithfully documented her life through photographs and journals, creating a rich tapestry of memories for her family. She loved to read, sew (from Barbie clothes to quilts), and play cards with family and friends. Her thoughtful, creative nature and warm spirit brought heart to any gathering.
Alice had an adventurous soul. She and Chuck traveled the world together, whether by RV or across oceans, they were always exploring side by side. She was his favorite travel companion, and their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love and devotion.
Above all, Alice was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness through her son, Bruce McConnell (wife Ella Shi and grandson Eric Xu); son Steven McConnell and granddaughters Sharayah Bostock, Kierra Burton, Kendra McConnell; great-grandchildren, Charlie Bostock, Britton Bostock, Theodora Burton; daughter Colleen Stevens; grandchildren, Malin Stevens, Madison Stevens; great-grandchildren, Damien-Tate Stevens, and Eliza-Nadine Stevens.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chuck McConnell; her parents, Ethel and Charles Hoover.
