Dearest Les and families, I am so sorry to hear of your loss and extend my deepest sympathy to you...she was a very special lady and I just loved her happy smile...I appreciate you inviting me to the Christmas party at your home and she surprised us all by playing a piece on the cello...it was wonderful...all of us that worked at the orchard really enjoyed Bernice bringing us a homemade apple cobbler or something special from her kitchen...she was a hardworking mother and grandmother, picking the kids up from one thing or another or delivering them to their individual practices and loving every minute of it...well, I lost my mom, Ruth Lewis to dimentia a couple weeks ago...she loved it when I would take her out to get apples and we would be greeted with so much love and happy faces...mom would take her time and pick out just the perfect apples for her to eat...I loved watching her...well, I will be seeing you at the orchard this coming year...much love, Virgie Lewis Dinnocente

We will remember Bernice as one of several friends of our Mother who taught us the art of friendship and joy of community. There are no better lessons than the warm embraces, tears and laughter shared around the kitchen table by women like Bernice. Our family will miss her. Our thoughts are with each of you.

I remember Mrs. Merritt as a smiling and kind person, a respected neighbor and Mom to three of the nicest kids with whom I rode the bus everyday. Though I've been away for years, I extend my condolences to you, Mr. Merritt, and to Alan, Randy and Christine. My prayers are with you all.

I fondly remember Bernice as a loving, caring nurse at SVMC. I was privileged to work with her there and to have her care for my first born. Her love of people was so obvious. It went beyond the normal nursing duties.
Peace to her memory.
