Olympia - Beverly Jane Mohr, 86, passed away peacefully on December 26 in Olympia, WA.
Beverly is survived by her daughters, Rebecca Smith (Leo), Terrin Eichwald (David), and Danette Smith (Bob). She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. On her husband's side, she is survived by Chad Mohr, Scott Mohr, and 3 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Mohr, and her daughter Cassandra Carter.
Beverly was born on October 1, 1937 in Yakima, Washington to Adam and Lorraine Zerr. She attended St. Joseph Academy, graduating in 1956. After graduation she and Lee Ringer were married and lived in Yakima for a few years. They moved to Seattle for a job at Boeing, but the rain and clouds prompted another move to Spokane, WA where they lived for over 10 years. In Spokane, Bev was a stay-at-home mom involved in her daughters' school and activities.
At the age of 36, Bev found herself as a single parent with four children. She returned to Yakima and worked at Shields Bag and Printing for a time. It was during this time that she was diagnosed with bladder cancer; but with her usual determination, she fought and recovered from it. After recovering from cancer, she and a partner bought and managed Blue Gene's Inn in Yakima. She was ready for a change after a few years in the restaurant business and began working in long distance sales. She eventually moved to Kirkland, WA and enjoyed a lucrative career in telecommunications sales where she found much success and financial stability. It was also during this time that she lost one of her daughters (Cassandra Carter) to breast cancer at the age of 41.
Beverly enjoyed traveling both at home and abroad. As a graduation gift to her grandchildren, she gave the gift of travel, allowing each grandchild to choose a country they most wanted to explore. She accompanied them on each trip creating lasting and special memories for each one of them. She was a strong advocate of education, both formal and informal. She loved history and exploring historical sites.
In 2005, she married Gary Mohr, and together, they built a new home and beautiful garden in Mount Vernon, WA. She loved Gary so much and enjoyed sailing adventures with him around Puget Sound aboard his sailboat, a 1964 Hinckley 35' Custom Pilot. She and Gary traveled to Russia, Peru, and several national historical sites. Gary and Bev made many friends in Mount Vernon, WA where Gary was a member of the Radio Amateurs of Skagit County radio club and did volunteer work with the Amateur Radio Emergency Services Organization. Gary and Bev were married for 12 years before he passed away in 2017 from cancer.
In 2020, Beverly sold her home and moved to Fieldstone Assisted Living at Cooper Point in Olympia, WA. There, she was under the watchful eye and constant care of her daughter, Danette Smith, who also worked at Fieldstone. Beverly's family would like to express special gratitude to the staff and caregivers at Fieldstone who were so kind and caring to her right up until the end.
We love you mom and know you are at peace with your beloved Gary, Candy, and all those who love you here and in the next life.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Beverly Mohr. A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
