March 6, 2021

Carolyn "Diane" Hammond resident of Sedro- Woolley, Washington passed away March 6, 2021 peacefully with her family by her side.

Diane was born in the town of Barney, Alabama on August 11, 1943. She was the youngest child of Hamie and Emory Cooper. Growing up in Dovertown, then Graduating from Cordova High School. Then in 1963 she met and married Donald Hammond SR. The 20+ year union brought two children, Donna Diane Kelly and Donald Hammond JR.

While raising her family she enjoyed bowling and softball with her close friend Marty Simmons. She never liked to stay still for long and had many adventures learning new things like Bee keeping, fast draw competition, gardening, making wreaths and candy making.

Later Diane went on to find her loving companion Russell Mayhew. For the past 31 years they enjoyed camping, crabbing and especially fishing. Her Dog Bella was the light of her day and gave her so much joy. She also cherished the many phone calls with family and friends back home in Alabama. Autumn was her favorite time of the year cheering on the Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Ershel Cooper, Emmet Cooper, Neddie Phillips, Joyce Gilbert and David Cooper.

Diane is survived by her companion, daughter, son, son-in-law Todd Savidge and three granddaughters. McKenna Diane, Sarah and Maranda Kelly.

At Diane's request no funeral services will be held.

A celebration of her life will be set as Covid restrictions ease.

I want to send my condolences to Diane's family, Donna, Donnie, McKenna, Sarah, and Maranda, Diane loved each and everyone of you so very very much. She would light up every time your names came into our conversations. Diane was warm and kind, and fun to be around.
Diane,
Whenever I think of you---
I will remember how fortunate I was that you were in my life
I wouldn't trade those moments for the world.

Diane was one of my mothers caregivers. It takes a very special person to do that and I always appreciated her. I enjoyed visiting with her and after my moms passing often ran into her at Fred Meyer. So very sorry for your loss.

Donna, I will be thinking about you and missing Diane. She was a wonderful friend that I truly missed after moving to Arizona but have never forgotten. She had a smile and personality that lit up a room. She will never be forgotten by those of us who knew and loved her!!
