Daniel Peck, a life-long resident of Skagit Valley, WA, passed away peacefully at home. Dan was born in Anacortes in January 1960 to Herbert and Shirley Peck. Dan graduated from Anacortes High School in 1978. In 1980 he hired on with the Texaco Refinery, becoming the 3rd Peck generation to work at the refinery. He married Becky (Rebecca) Martin in 1986 and they moved to their "shack" in Bayview in 1989, then into their Bow home in 2005.

Dan was in his element in the wilderness. He was an avid fisherman, tying flies from age 14. Dan was a maniac hiker, covering vast miles and reaching many mountain peaks. While he could stride out, he always went the speed of the slowest in the group "We will all get there together".

Dan was known for his intelligence, you wanted him with you in any emergency. Not known for small talk, when Mr. Peck spoke people listened. Dan understood that all people were his brothers and sisters, he had not one sexist or racist bone in his body. He was a man of his convictions, and he supported many organizations and went to protests to try to help oppressed peoples. For example, Dan supported Southern Poverty Law Center for decades in the fight against White supremacy, and during the last few years he was very concerned about the rise of Fascism in the US and globally. Dan's other major area of concern was, of course, the environment. He believed that one of the best ways to help people was to protect the environment. He knew everything and everyone is connected. Dan felt so lucky that he "lived better than 99.99% of all of humanity ever" and he strongly felt that everyone else should be able to have the same good life.

Dan loved his family and friends, if they needed anything Dan was ready to help. He enjoyed hosting gatherings or holidays and BBQing oysters on the half shell. His Dad said, "Dan was one of a kind".

Dan is survived by his wife Rebecca, his Father Herbert Peck, sister Karla (Don) VanPay, brother Steve (Marina) Peck, aunt & uncle Vera and Gil Harvey, uncle Ed Robinson, uncle Bill (Jane) Robinson, aunt Marcia Burnham, the Burnham, Venables, and Robinson cousins, "kissing cousin" Charlene (Darrell) Burns, mother-in-law Janet Laurel and brother-in-law Steve (Tina) Martin. Dan's close friends, Darrell, Steve E., Willy, Karl, and Steve H. were ride or die for him. Dan especially loved his nephews and nieces, D.J. (Courtney) VanPay, Sean VanPay, Clare Martin and Ava Martin. It gave him joy that they all are doing well.

Dan was preceded in death by his Mother Shirley Peck.

Many many people helped Dan have a great life over the last decade while he fought cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Backman, Dr. Tykodi Cancercare Alliance, Dr. Amber Fowler, and his dentist team Dr. Gray & Micheal & Kate. To his walking companions- Joey, Keaton, Sam, Josh, Nancy- you were a bright spot in Dan's days, thank you so much for your care to him. Joey Monte, Maurisio Soto, Steve Elliott, and Uncle Eddie- thank you for being with us these last years. To the Hospice crew; Pam, Julie, Daniel, Allison, Nicky and Jake, thank you for providing loving care in his final days. To everyone and anyone we missed, thank you!
