DAVID BRANDT Obituary

David Brandt, resident of Big Lake, passed away on the morning of February 21st, 2013 after a brave, two-year struggle with cancer.

He was born on July 28, 1965 in Sedro-Woolley and lived in Skagit Valley the rest of his life.

During his school years, Dave excelled at sprinting. He was a hard worker, known by some of his closer construction companions as "the sun god". He was also known as an excellent gardener and for his love for animals.

Dave will be remembered by family and friends as a good man who was kind, considerate, and a good listener.

Dave, a son, brother and uncle is missed very much. He is survived by his mother Gloria Brandt, brother Jim Brandt and his wife Emma and their children Hector and Mariana Brandt, sister Kristen Brandt, all of Big Lake, and father Rich Brandt of Burlington, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the Seattle and Longview areas.

Donations may be sent to an animal shelter to support homeless and mistreated animals.

I met David through the "Livestrong" program at the YMCA in Mount Vernon. He was a quiet, gentle & determined man. He proved that to all of us when he continued his program while having a broken hip which he didn't realize at the time and it had to have been painful. We all missed him when he had to drop out of the class and we looked forward to his return. I'm sorry to have learned today that he had passed away. David was a kind soul. My sincere sympathy to his family.
