DELBERT JOHNSON Obituary

Delbert Ellsworth Johnson died July 27, 2014 at 91 years of age. Delbert was born February 18, 1923 in Hoquiam, WA to Julius and Emmie (Kretz) Johnson.

The family moved to Acme, WA when Delbert was 13 years old. He graduated from Mt. Baker High School in 1942. He worked in logging for his father's "Blue Mountain Logging Co" until 1950. He moved to California in 1951, five years after first marriage to Pat Meins, and resided there for 17 years.

He moved to Bellingham, WA in 1967. He worked for Intalco Aluminum Corp where he was burned and blinded in a molten aluminum explosion in January, 1977.

Delbert accepted Jesus as his Savior and Lord at age 15 and was baptized along with his brother Roy who was 14, during summer camp services at Covenant Beach in Des Moines, WA.

During Delbert's life, he faithfully attended church, worshiping at Bethany Covenant Church the last 22 years.

He was a praying man, who prayed for his children everyday till the end of his life and he prayed for many others throughout his life.

Delbert was preceded in death by his brothers Paul and Roy Johnson, his sister Svea Johnson, and 18 year old daughter, Robin Johnson.

He leaves behind his wife, Bonnie Chriswell (Chorlton) Johnson; sons, Terry, Jack (Jodie), Steve (Janeen), Wayne (Josephine); daughter, Mary Lou Johnson; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; step-children, John (Min), Peter, and Anna Chorlton; brothers, Chad (Norma) Johnson, Percy (Beverly) Johnson, Bill (Francis) Johnson and seven nephews, eleven nieces.

Delbert trusted in God. Proverbs 20:7 says, "The righteous man walks in integrity; his children are blessed after him."
"Blessed is the man who trusts in Him." (Psalm 34:8)

Delbert faithfully believed Jesus' words: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6)

A Graveside Service will be held at Bayview Cemetery in Bellingham, WA at 3:00PM, Friday, August 1, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held at Bethany Covenant Church in Mt. Vernon, WA at 2:00PM, Saturday, August 2, 2014.
