Jay Geisel passed away September 20, 2018 in Mount Vernon, WA.

Jay was born in Elyria, Ohio on April 2, 1921, where he attended Ohio State University. He enrolled in the United States Coast Guard Academy, followed by service in the United States Navy for several years, serving on a Liberty Ship in the Atlantic during WWII.

Following his military service, Jay became a department head in the communications department at Goodyear Aerospace in Phoenix, AZ. Yes, he did ride one of the Goodyear Blimps and loved to share the tale. It was during this time he met his wife of over 37 years, Mary. Together, they loved to spend time traveling and enjoying their love of the ocean. They moved to San Diego, CA where they were "live-aboards" for four years.

With family moving to Washington, they followed where they settled their nautical roots in Shelter Bay. When Jay was no longer able to safely keep the boat, Sandcastle, in Bristol shape, he turned to woodworking. Although he developed those skills later in life, he became an avid woodworker and enjoyed the company of his many friends in the Northwest Corner Woodworkers Association. Jay was always up for a Mariner's game or challenging crossword puzzle.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mary, in Shelter Bay; children Greg (Jane) in Florida, Kim (Gary) of Phoenix, Todd (Alison), Dawn of Michigan and Mary's children, who he loved as his own, Chris (Helena) of Florida, Tony of Phoenix, Carol (John) of Lyman, Chaunte (Jeff) of Edmonds and his many grandchildren Forrest (Allison) of Alabama, Shannon (Brice) of Florida, Justin (Dacia) of Phoenix, Denae of Snohomish, Jeff of Mount Vernon, and Jay (Blake) of Shelter Bay and his great-grandchildren Jessica, Avery, Losida, Taylor, Catalina, Dylan, and Owen.

Jay's conversations on topics far and wide will be missed. His many woodworking projects will be treasured, and his family will always think of him when looking at the oceans.
