Jeanne Burch Obituary

Sedro-Woolley - Jeanne Annette (Thompson) Burch, 67, of Sedro-Woolley, Washington passed away peacefully at home on July 2, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 19, 1958, in Sedro-Woolley to Dale and Marilyn Thompson. Jeanne was married to Steve Burch for over 33 years, and together they built a life rooted in love, faith and family.

Jeanne dedicated over 30 years of her life to serving the Deaf community as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter. She worked with the Burlington and Sedro-Woolley school districts, as well as Western Washington University and local community colleges, bridging communication and building inclusion wherever she went. Her passion extended beyond the classroom; Jeanne volunteered her time interpreting at churches so that Deaf individuals could fully experience worship services. In the final decade of her career, she brought her talents to Sorenson Communications. Jeanne also had a heart for young learners, generously volunteering in Sedro-Woolley elementary schools to teach children songs in ASL, inspiring a love of language and connection from an early age.

Jeanne will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and a deeply generous grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially their sleepovers, and delighted in baking treasured family recipes from her kitchen. Jeanne was the heart and soul of our blended family, the activity director who brought us together and the glue that held us close. She had a rare gift for making each child and grandchild feel uniquely special, like they were her favorite.

Jeanne is survived by her loving husband, Steve Burch of Sedro-Woolley; daughter, Mariah (Brandon Harris) Burch, their children, Makyelah and Zariah; Dustin (Emilee) Stretch, their children, Thor and Kadlu; Elissa (Eric) McGeever, their children, Liam and Adalyn; Erica (Chris) Paxton, their children, Gracie and Kinzie; six siblings, Eric, Julie, Susan, Carol, Lenny and Jayme.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Marilyn; in laws, Paul and Liz; aunts, uncles, in laws and cousins.

Jeanne's family is having an open house Celebration of Life next summer. Share your memories of Jeanne and sign the online guest register at www.lemleychapel.com.

Dear Jeanne,
It was so nice to meet such a beautiful soul and to team interpret with you a few times. You will be missed. I will miss your big hugs and beautiful smile. Your beautiful heart to serve the Lord through interpreting was a gift and my husband and I were blessed by it. Til we meet again. Love you.
