Jon Carpenter Obituary

Mount Vernon - Jon passed away on November 10, 2021 after a brief illness. Jon was born on January 17, 1974 in Tucson, AZ to Larry Carpenter and his late mother Eileen (Ryan) Carpenter who also passed away earlier this year.

Jon worked for more than 20 years for the City of Mount Vernon Shop with the assistance of his job coaches from Chinook Enterprises. Jon loved going to work and made a lasting impact on his co-workers. Jon's infectious smile and love of trucks were evident to anyone fortunate enough to know him.

Jon loved to travel, take fishing trips, attend family reunions, and had recently discovered a new passion for playing the guitar-and he would insist on playing it for anyone who visited.

Along with his father, those left to cherish Jon's memory include his sisters Michele (Charles) Sagona of Johnson City, TN and Jennifer (Nate Keim) Staite of Mount Vernon, WA; nephew Ryan Staite of Mount, Vernon, WA; and several beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends especially the Gary Radovich and Alex DeBlasio families.

As a last gesture of his love for others, Jon was an organ donor and his beautiful blue eyes gave the gift of sight to two people.

A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on December 9, 2021 at 10:00 am. A Celebration of Life will be held afterward beginning at 11:30 am at Skagit Station. In honor of Jon, everyone is invited to wear any truck or fire department themed shirts, ties, or hats.

In remembrance of Jon's life, his family asks that any charitable donations be made to Chinook Enterprises (www.chinookenterprises.org) or another organization assisting people with disabilities.

Jon was such a sweet man, he loved his fire trucks and I remember in college he always said hoho for Christmas time that when he knew his beautiful sister Shelly was coming to visit him from college. Aww sweet Jon rest in peace and fly high with mama! Lots of love buddy

John was such a sweet guy. I met him through Donna and Alex who would look after John. I´m so sorry to hear of his passing.

So sad to hear of Jon's passing. Having worked with him for many years I know that he will be missed greatly by family and friends. My biggest memory of Jon is that he always seemed happy - a trait I sometimes envied. Thoughts are with Larry and other family who have endured a very tough year.
