Kathleen Moore Obituary

The beloved daughter of Clair and Trudi Sathern has passed away on January 24, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with her disease. We mourn her passing, but celebrate her life. She leaves us with a special legacy of unconditional love, boundless empathy and a continued hope in the face of great adversity. She was our hero. Kathy taught us how to love, sing, dance, and fight for life. She has touched so very many lives in Denver, Juneau, Mount Vernon and Anacortes. Wherever she went she would light up a room with her beautiful blue eyes, her tender touch, her beautiful smile and of course her special love.

She was born in Denver, CO September 8, 1956. She was always a fun child and loved her sisters dearly; Vicki, Karen, and Crystal.

She had dreams of being a singer, photographer, ballet dancer and CD counselor, however those dreams never came to pass due to her illness.

She married Gus Garcia in 1978 and had a beautiful baby boy, Siloam Sabian Kahler, and a beautiful baby girl, Selena Ryan Garcia. She always played music and sang to her children. As a result of this, her children got into the music business. She later divorced Gus and went to Juneau, Alaska where she worked for the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game, the Dept. of Tourism, and the Attorney General's office.

Later she married the love of her life, James Moore. They had a very special spiritual love together.

Kathy was a member of the Bahai Faith, the Red Hat Society of Sedro-Woolley, a member of A.A. and a student of a Course in Miracles.

Kathy is preceded in death by her biological father, Albert Kahler; stepfather, Richard Zoller; and her very special DAD, Clair Sathern, who taught her to play golf and to fish. She loved going out on the boat with her mom and Clair to watch the beautiful whales, seals and sea lions, and she loved watching the Northern Lights in Juneau, Alaska.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Trudi Sathern; Kathy's children, Siloam Sabian Kahler and Selena Ryan Garcia; her sweet sisters, Vicki Zoller, of Kenmore, Karen Kahler and her husband Rick Danielson, of Anacortes, Crystal and Stennar Thorson of Mount Vernon; her estranged husband, James Moore of Burlington; her aunt, Jaye French and uncle Doug Gallagher; her grandmother, Hazel Avery of Denver, CO, and cousins in Denver; nephew, Zachary Klinefelter and (Lacey), Bellingham, WA; nephew, Joshua Cooper and (Serena), Anacortes; nephew, Jesse Cooper of Anacortes; niece, Chenoah and (Jaye) Torgerson of Beaverton, OR; and her very special friend in Juneau, Billie Wilson.

Graveside service will be conducted for Kathy on Monday, January 29, 2007 at 1:00pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon, Washington.

A separate notice announcing Celebration of Kathy's Life following the Graveside Service will be announced in later edition of the Skagit Valley Herald.

Burial arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Affordable Burial & Cremation Services, LLC of Mount Vernon, Washington.

I met Kathleen at MVCC when she was there for a short stay. She really touched my heart and only wanted someone to listen to her, so as one of the caregivers who works there, when I had the time I would go and talk with her. I'll always remember her favorite drink(cranberry juice & lemon lime soda). She'd always have me get it for her no matter where I was working at on the floor.
God Bless her and all of the family. She is at peace now, but her spirit will always live on.
