LESLIE KIMSEY Obituary

November 16, 1945 - February 10, 2016

Leslie Alan Kimsey, 70, passed away peacefully after a 60 year battle with Type 1 diabetes on February 10, 2016 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA.

Les was born on November 16, 1945 in Durango, CO, the second son of Lawrence and Margaret (Thomas) Kimsey.

The Kimsey family lived in Colorado, New Mexico, and Oregon. Les graduated from high school in Baker City, OR and received his bachelor's degree from Oregon State University. He worked in a number of jobs in his young life but spent 38 years at the Boeing Company, retiring in 2005.

Les loved life and was always up for an adventure - and if there wasn't one to be found, he'd make his own. He loved teaching people about his passions of cars, boating, water-skiing, sky-skiing, target shooting, flying r/c airplanes and helicopters, and riding his Harley. He was a father figure, mentor, and friend to so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Lindsey.

He is survived by his best friend and wife, Karen; his brother, Larry Kimsey (Ragene), daughters Dannica Earl (Brian), Lara Forbes, Leslie Wescott (Doug), and Leah Forbes, as well as beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and so many that thought of him as dad and grandpa.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 12th, at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon, WA. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
