MARJORIE PECK Obituary

Marjorie M. Peck (nee Birch) passed into the Arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 8th, 2010.

Marge was born on October 1, 1923 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania to Henry William Birch and Lillian Amanda Birch, the fourth of six children. She grew up in the Pittsburgh, PA area and attended Thiel College. Her dad was a Baptist minister and they moved frequently.

After moving to Philadelphia, she met and married John R. Mecouch, who became a Presbyterian minister and spent many years helping to build the churches where he served in that area. Marge and John had three daughters, Carole, Joan and Lynne.

Marge later married the late George L. Peck and, after living in Pennsylvania and Florida, they moved to Anacortes, Washington when George retired. Marge was always active in church work and various philanthropic organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers William, Allen, Milton and Donald, her sister Gwendolyn and her granddaughter Heather Reynolds Tate.

She is survived by her three daughters, Carole Goldberg, Joan (Steven) Hocker and Lynne Solomon, six grandchildren (Jim, Mark and Kristen Goldberg; Megan and Meredith Solomon; Scott Reynolds), eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marge was a devoted mother and grandmother, always reaching out a hand to help her family and her friends. Her love of Jesus was paramount in her life. Her sweet smile and laughing blue eyes will be sorely missed. Her lifelong example of faith and courage, her generosity and grace, are all a vital part of the legacy she leaves.

A Celebration of Life service will be held January 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Mukilteo Presbyterian Church, Mukilteo, Washington.

Dear Carole, Joan and Lynne

We are saddened by your loss and share your grief. It is our prayer that your and your mother's faith and strength will guide you through these days. I know your pain as my mom, Bettye, passed suddenly in early December - my heart goes out to you.

I recall my Aunt Marge as a very caring person and heard many stories about she and Aunt Gwen practically raising my dad, Don (the baby of the family). He was so much younger and they were always there to give him their love. I am thankful for the love and nurture that she gave; she must have given the same to you.

All our love and prayers,

Vickie (Birch) Corl
and John and Kasey

Dear Carole, Joan and Lynne,
It is impossible to list all the wonderful memories I have of Aunt Margie. Just the thought of her puts a smile on my face, even as her passing brings selfish tears. My heart goes out to you all; your loss is everyone's who knew your mom. I love you, Pam

Carol, Joan and Lynne,
I know that Aunt Marge passing is hard to deal with, but knowing that it was the best thing for her and that she is in a better place makes it easier.
