MARYLIN THOMPSON Obituary

February 10, 1928-
March 10, 2017

Marilyn Anne Thompson, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt died on March 10, 2017 at the family home.

She was born in Sedro-Woolley, WA (third-generation resident) on February 10, 1928, and was the daughter of Al and Ruth Hyldahl. She had one sister, Donna Hayden.

Marilyn graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1945 and later attended Skagit Valley College and The University of Washington. She wrote numerous feature articles for the Skagit Valley Herald in the 1960's. She also worked for many years at the Sedro-Woolley Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the First Baptist Church for 87 years.

She was married to her high-school sweetheart Dale Thompson for 70 years. After Dale's retirement from the Department of Natural Resources, the couple traveled extensively seeing all 50 states and several foreign countries. The couple spent many winters in Surprise, AZ. They were also active in Wild Women of Woolley and many other community events.

She is survived by her family: Husband, Dale; Eric and Joanne Thompson and children Nathaniel, Bret, Brendon and Shay; Julie and Dan Hayes, Jason, Aaron and Lindsay; Jeanne and Steve Burch, Mariah, Dustin, Elissa and Erica; Susan and Tim Mayfield, Andrew, Joshua, Steven, Jordan, John, Dan and Jacob; Carol and Bob Odle, Danny and Marcus; Lenny and Darcy Thompson; Jayme and Heather Thompson; 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marilyn also cared for newborn foster babies for many years.

Marilyn was a very loving, giving and forgiving person. She was kind, caring, creative, humorous and witty. She was a fabulous cook with many other endearing qualities.

She will be missed by all the lives she touched.

In addition, she leaves books unread, letters unwritten and prayers unsaid.

She leaves closets to clean, and windows to wash and sunsets unseen.

She leaves flowers to be watered, leaves to be raked, and slugs to be slaughtered.

She leaves boxes to be sorted, bills to be paid, cards to be sent and beds to be made.

She leaves many good friends (you know who you are), jokes untold and pot-lucks uneaten...

She leaves reluctantly because she never really finished.
~M. Thompson

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.

At Marilyn's request, there will be no services. \

A picnic celebration of life will be held at the family home in July.

Marylin was the most wonderful woman I know. She loved everyone unconditionally, just like Jesus. She was such a good listener, and willing to serve all her fellow travelers on this journey. My memories of her sharing with me are too numerous to list here, but let it be said "I loved that lady so much!"
