I still find myself thinking about you all the time Mase. I miss you so much and I often think about what life would be like if you were still here with us. I'll have those memories forever of us sitting on the hillside at the high school,the way you asked me to prom (so incredibly special), the way you drove brad, steph, and me to prom (very scary), hanging out at the Simpson's, Jacobs's or Mills's house and having such a blast! The way your eyes would grow so big, your kindness, the way you stood up for people, everything about you was angelic. Fly high, Mase. Miss the heck out of you. Always and forever <3

I miss him greatly, he was so active and caring. He wasn't a quitter at anything he did and loved to excite other people just to see their reaction. I love you little brother who was not so little. From your sis Mariah derrick.

Mason, I still can't believe your not here. I will miss all the great times we had, staying up late at night playing video games and making ourselves laugh till we cried, making you freak when we all hold you down and touch your collar bone, listening to you and Jason talk in a British accent for hours at a time. You are the most caring person I have ever met, making sure no one gets left behind, always trying to look out for others.

I will never forget you man, I love you buddy.

I remember when you first returned from AIT, reporting to my office. Just gleaming at me with those eyes and I said;
I could be your mother as young as you are.
But when you left my office I also saw this kid, who was going to be a great SOLDIER!
I'm so very proud to have been a small part of your life and that you were apart of S3 ROCKS! team.

Mason you were the nicest person in the whole world!Why did you have to go? I only knew you for a few years and seen you like 7 times but you were the most caring and selfless person i've ever met and I mean it one hundred percent.I bet you'd never think i'd be crying like this. you probably thought I'd forget you but I can honestly say you have been the most positive influence of my life and I miss staying up till 8 in the morning just talking you were the best and now you're gone.You could make me happy and bring me out of being mad or sad in an instant.You had the biggest smile and the purest most unselfish heart of anyone i've ever met.I remember when I'd get upset and you took me for rides on your dirtbike and when you thought I was cold you gave me your coat and shoes. You said they were warmer because they were heated by love.I'm really going to miss you and love you forever!Please love me too from your seat up there next to jesus.Eternal love,

"Mason, my little brother"I can't believe your no longer here to pester me or tease me. When i think about our times together we were always in compitition with each other. who was skinniest, who had more of a tan than the other. There really was no limit to our sibling rivallry. Theres no doubt in my mind you came in first when it came to making people laugh. You drew everyones attention to you with those dorky facial expressions and your corny jokes. I was always so jelous of you(proud). I caught more fish than you though! lol I love you and feel free to haunt me when ever you want. Oh but I'll warn you Mas, Im a derrick and you Know what that means! Love always your Big Sis Mariah Jo Derrick and your new Nephew Ryu Jo Nguyen
P.S. tell grandpa and aunt missy I said hi and I miss them too.

Mason, where do I begin? You were an amazing guy, you treated everyone with great respect. You were never greedy, and you always listened. It didn't matter who they were, but you would put aside your problems to listen to others. You're one of the sweetest guys I have ever met. You were the best boyfriend I have ever had, and best prom date too. I will never forget that day when we were going to homecoming and I accidently poked the boutonniere in your chest. We shared MANY great memories together, us wrestling, the way you stood, your girl voice, you're british accident, the way you would be mad unless you got food, your smile, your laugh, and much more.

I look forward to seeing you one day. I love you Mason. You're in a better place now.

This was a kid that lit up your heart. He found joy in making people smile and laugh! I don't believe Mason ever had an enemy in the world! We share many amazing times with him, especially the ones at Dennys, Burlington Hill, Adams yard and Walker Valley! We will never forget the way his laugh could echo and light up the world!! You brought so much joy to our lives..

To Larry J Derrick - I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. I was touched by your post here. I, too, did not spend a lot of time with my dad, but I never quit loving him and I know he never quit loving me! Our lives progress in strange ways that we don't always understand. I did not know this young man nor the family, but please always believe that he loved you too in spite of the different directions your lives may have taken you. I believe you will once again see each other in another world. Forever carry your positive memories with you. Take Care!

Oh, Mason! You spent happy hours in Wyoming with your grandpa and me. I always appreciated your energy to help and do things mechanical that I couldn't do. I still have bright memories of you hammering the loose nails back in the deck boards outside the house. The Lord will enjoy having you with him but, oh, you leave an empty space in our hearts here. We love you! "Grandma" Laurel
