I'm obviously late here as I had no idea Niall had passed. My condolences. I hope time has helped a bit.
I worked with him in Long Beach and lost touch when you moved. I've always remembered him fondly. Such a great jovial character and "game" for whatever comes. I'm a bit Irish so I always felt like I was touching my roots knowing him and I've recounted stories over the years that I recall about Niall. I've always thought I might see him again. I'm sorry I won't. Again, sincere condolences.

I'm so sorry for all of Niall's family; he was such a great man and role model. We volunteered every Friday at St Paul's Academy where he regaled us with stories new and old. He was so open and gregarious, and loved working with all the little kids, frequently giving them a little extra 'test' and then praise. I can't believe he'll be gone from that place, but I know everyone who knew him will have him in their hearts forever! His spirit was huge. Thank you for your presence, Niall.

I was over in Belfast last week looking for Niall Or Chi as we called him when I heard the news. I knew Niall when we were knocking about the Antrim road with John and the rest of the boys. We both left Belfast at the same time and on occasions we would meet up when we returned to Belfast. Niall went onto the boats and I went to London . We never forgot our roots and i was sadden to hear about Niall. A few of his old friends and I had our own wake for Chi last week and may his soul and all the souls rest in peace.

I only had a casual contact with Niall, as I am "just" the recycle driver. But he always greeted me warmly and treated me like a friend. He walked his dogs by my house years ago and from then on he would leave me a Christmas card at my door. The last time I saw him was late winter and I was telling him about the unexpected death of my brother. He leant a good ear to let me express my sorrow, talking to me about one has to live their life like it was their last day. I appreciated his time, his response and his empathy. He was generous in resources and in kindness. He is one of my route contacts I have made who's departure leaves an impression and a void. My deepest sympathies to his family and all those close to this man.

Many of us are compassionate. Few of us can muster the time, energy, and courage to put it into action, even on occasion. Niall was one of those rare souls who practiced love as a way of life. For this, he will be dearly missed, and never forgotten.
Thank you, Niall, for reaching out and taking care of our son, Nick, as only you could. You touched him, and us, in a profound way. Knowing that you walk with him now brings us the greatest of comforts. Our hearts remain bonded with you both, until we meet again...

Niall
t'was 20 years ago to the day, today, actually 8/8/1992-2012 we met providentially. You were a roommate from Cali as were Robert and I and Ed. I came to adore your most lovely wife, Terri and always will. Your son, Connor has always been a dearly loved surrogate grandchild to me and I know he is as your sire. He will be strong for Terri and Declan shall be her safe haven as they and I and Robert shall always cherish you, my friend.......rest well.

Niall's presense in my life was a blessing, as it was to many people he befriended during his life. He was a character to say the least and his outgoing personality and huge appreciation for life were just part of his makeup. Niall was kind and giving to others, but his family was his biggest accomplishment, and Niall loved them deeply. Niall also introduced me to Jameson, to which I will always think of Niall when having a wee sip. I will miss you my friend. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terri, Conner and Declan.

The "smile" of Niall will always be in my heart. The day he told me of his youth in Ireland and his challenges to make his mark in the world is an afternoon that I will always cherish.
The smile was more brilliant when he spoke of Terri and the boys.
You will be though of everytime a red harley goes by or one needs that special laugh, charm and energy you gave away.

Oh my darling friend Niall... how I shall miss your charming ways and that laugh!! how it will ring in my ears all the days until we meet again. How I will miss you... how I miss you now. You saved me from myself - you encouraged me every day you knew me - you built me up and made me a stronger person than I ever knew I could be, and you protected me when I needed more strength than I had. To say you were my best friend isn't enough. You were family to me, even though we didn't have the same blood, you were a brother to me, and a stern father at times, you guided me, mentored me and cared for me. I cherish the years we had together and look forward to the lifetime with you ahead. All my love to my dear sister Terri and boys Connor and Declan. Till the end my dear family - we will care for each other - Niall would have it no other way.

Terri, Connor and Declan,
What an amazing man your husband and father was. I was crushed and shocked to hear of his passing. My heart is with you as you meander through this new part of your lives and I am so sorry. Niall was an amazing presence wherever he went. What a huge heart he had for all he met. I will never forget the camping trips...with his Harley! May God put His arms around you all, and give you peace now and always. Joshua 1:9 says: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid: do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." I know that right now it may be too hard to be strong. Give yourself time. But please know that there are so many people out there, more than you will ever know, that are holding you all in their hearts and prayers.
RIP Niall. You were a good friend to all you met. Peace be with you and be an angel to your family.
God Bless,
K
