Nora Shuler Obituary
Nora was born April 3, 1944, in Clinton, Arkansas. She was married to William (Bill) Shuler on October 27, 1969.
Nora had a long career in nursing, starting at Northern State Hospital in the early 1960s. She continued her education and earned a two-year Registered Nurse degree from Everett Community College in 1975. She later earned a four-year RN degree through the University of Washington. Nora worked as an operating room nurse and was OR supervisor at both Skagit Valley Hospital and United General Hospital. She also served on the PeaceHealth Board of Directors.
She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Nora taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, served on the council, and helped at many memorial services. She was involved with, and a strong supporter of, Family Promise.
Nora lived to serve others. She took several trips with Esperanza International to build homes in Mexico.
She is best remembered for her servant's heart, love of her Lord, her family, her gardening, and of course, her infectious laugh.
Nora is survived by her husband, Bill Shuler of Sedro-Woolley; her son, Jason (Cheri) Renfro of Mount Vernon; daughter Lee (Ken) Szymborski of Stanwood; granddaughter Madellen (Sam Backman) Szymborski of Seattle; granddaughter Kathryn (Turner Williams) Szymborski of Tempe, AZ; sister-in-law, June (Robert) Bolam of Seattle; as well as several nieces and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Dorothy Evans; her sisters, Lydia Johnson and Esther Chambers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at 10:30 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sedro-Woolley. To honor Nora, please wear colorful clothing.
