Richard Cook Obituary

Anacortes - Richard "Dick" Cook passed away peacefully on Sept. 8, 2025, surrounded by family, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer and lymphoma. Born in Seattle to James and Margaret Cook, Dick grew up in White Center, graduated from Evergreen High School in 1967, and went on to earn his Engineering degree from the University of Washington in 1971. A respected consulting engineer, Dick founded Forensic Consultants, Inc. in 1982. Known for his sharp mind, tenacity, and commanding presence on the witness stand, he served clients nationwide, including UPS, SIFT, and Waste Management. He was also a proud 50-year member of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Dick's passions extended well beyond his profession. An aviator at heart, he earned his private pilot's license in 1987 and his commercial license in 1991. He was an active member of the Quiet Birdmen and cherished every chance to take to the skies-often flying himself to job sites. On the water, he was equally at home. As "Captain Cook," he found joy in boating, crabbing, and sharing time aboard Captain's Choice with family and friends. His open invitation-Thursdays, Saturdays, and Mondays at 3 p.m.-was a reflection of his generous spirit and love of company. He is survived by his wife, Susan; children Michele (Tyler) Wells, Brenda (Kent) Edgington, Karlene (Stephen) Bostick, and Nathan (Kelly) Ramerman; grandchildren Donovan, Quinn, Bryce, Kate, Breann, and Oliver; great grandchildren Luke, Katara and Kenai; sister Sharon (Mark) Shebly; and many nieces and nephews.

In true Dick fashion, his life will be celebrated with stories, laughter, and friendship near what would have been his 77th birthday. Please join us on December 7th at Seafarers' Memorial Park. Memories and photos for the slideshow may be shared at [email protected]. Arrangements in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel, Anacortes.
