Robert Floren Obituary

Robert Arthur Floren passed away peacefully on December 29, 2009 with his wife Sally at his side, at the age of 90.

Born in Red Oak, Iowa, he graduated from Iowa State and moved to Seattle where he married Virginia Mattern and joined the Boeing Engineering group during WWII. Virginia passed away in 1952.

After the war, he joined the Architectural firm of NBBJ. He later married Charlotte (Sally) and combined their families of 4 boys. They were members of the University Christian Church, where Bob was an elder, and where they had many good friends.

In 1965, with 4 teenage boys, Bob was awarded the University District Father of the Year. Retiring from NBBJ, Bob and Sally moved to Eastern Washington where he became Senior Architect of the Facilities Planning Department at Washington State University.

He loved to garden, fly kites, play with his dogs and make charts and graphs of everything you could imagine.

He is survived by his wife, Sally and sons, Greg (Barb), Randy (Peggy), Geof (Debbie) and Mark (Chris). He is also survived by grandchildren, Cori, Chad, Josh, Jathan, Casey, Corbin, Scott & Tyler and 6 great-grandchildren.

Bob was a gentle, loving, very intelligent man who brought so much to everyone he met. His dedication to my Aunt Sally, his family, work and hobbies was unparalled. We will miss him, his warm smile and caring attitude. We are thankful to have known him and his wonderful caring family.
Love,
Michele & Jim Rutter
