Scott Reed Obituary

Anacortes - Scott A. Reed left this life to be with his Savior in eternal glory on May 17, 2024. Scott was born on May 8, 1950 in Baker City, OR to father, James Reed and mother Donna Reed. Scott grew up with an interest in, and educated with, a future in agriculture in mind. He earned his teaching degree from the Oregon Board of Education in 1973 and taught in public schools for several years. However, the insurance business became his occupation and he eventually became self-employed in this field until he retired after a successful career.

Scott met, and fell in love with, Donna Marie Magoon from Brainerd, MN. They were married on December 16, 1971 in Corvallis, OR. Scott and Donna loved travelling and worked in the insurance business together eventually settling in Anacortes, WA. Although Scott and Donna were not able to have children, they enjoyed over 41 years of companionship together, until Donna lost her battle with cancer in 2013. Scott remained widowed until his passing in May at the age of 74. Scott eventually bought a home on Samish Island where he became socially connected with many friends that were very dear to him. In that small, warm community, he came to love the care and time that he had with his neighbors who would look out for each other and spend many relaxing engagements together. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, fishing and taking his friends out on the water to share that passion with them.

Scott began attending church in Anacortes, where his faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ was encouraged and shared with other like-minded believers. Because of Scott's love of people, and his passion for fellowship, his church family became another opportunity to make deep friendships. He was known in his church community for his desire to serve behind the scenes, to help those in need and to share his resources and his hobbies as a way to encourage others. Scott leaves behind a legacy of compassion, ministering to needs, and displaying a gentle, respectful kindness toward those around him. Scott will be deeply missed by us all, but we are confident that we will see him again in glory.

Scott Reed is survived by his father, James Reed of Ocean Park, WA; and half-brother, John Norvell of Deer Island, OR, along with other extended family. Scott is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna; his sister, Linda Marambe; and his mother, Donna Norvell. A Memorial Service with a Reception following for Scott, will be held on July 6, 2024, at 11am, at Summit Park Bible Church, 12700 Thompson Rd., Anacortes, WA 98221.
