WILLIAM LINDBERG Obituary

November 17, 1927 -
November 6, 2017

William "Bill" Boardman Lindberg, 89, went to be with Jesus on Monday, November 6, 2017. He died peacefully at his home in Anacortes, attended by his family and assisted by Hospice of the Northwest.

He was born November 17, 1927 in Napavine, Washington to Hugo and Christine Lindberg. Later, he moved to Mount Vernon where he attended junior high and high school. Bill's father Hugo owned and operated Lindberg Grocery in downtown Mount Vernon until he died in 1934, leaving his wife to raise Bill and his seven brothers.

Bill served in the Army from 1946-1948 as Chief Baker at an Army base in Japan. When he returned to the US, he briefly attended Seattle Pacific University.

He met Ann Gross at Burlington Bakery where they both worked, and they were married on July 6, 1953 and moved to Anacortes. In Anacortes he worked at Anacortes Plywood Mill and Shell Oil Refinery as an operator and a carpenter and retired in 1983.

When Bill and Ann moved to Anacortes, they first attended the Anacortes Baptist Church. In 1956, they joined the Christian Reformed Church. Bill enjoyed teaching Sunday school, and at the Christian Reformed Church, Bill set up a woodshop where he taught woodworking skills, a highlight for many children.

Bill was a friendly and optimistic man, and he lived a life of obedience as he understood the teaching of the Scripture. He considered no one a stranger, and was always willing to help someone out, often inviting people home for dinner.

Bill's passing was preceded in death by five of his brothers: Jack, Bob, Pete, Phil, and Lindy.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Lindberg, and his brothers Jim and Danny; children: Jennie (Dean Smith) Lindberg; Teresa (David) Brum; Karin (Mike) Baldwin; Laura Lindberg; Nathan (Jessie Lin) Lindberg; grandchildren: Collin and Evan Brum; Joshua, Rachel, Zachary and Adam Baldwin; Seth Briney; Josephine and Gwendolyn Lindberg, along with three great-grandchildren.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Fernhill Cemetery on Saturday, November 18, 2017; followed by a Memorial Service with Reception later at the Anacortes Christian Reformed Church at 2 p.m.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel of Anacortes, WA.

Bill is a guy with a good heart and soul. I didn't know he served. He will be missed by those lives he touched. He taught me how to drive his blue truck, took me and other kids to Burlington skate rink, etc. I learned from karin His daughter about his passing.
