LANNIE ZARN Obituary

LANNIE G. ZARN Lannie G. Zarn passed away peacefully at his home in Sleepy Eye on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the age of 78. A visitation was held Tuesday, August 1, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel and continued one hour prior to the service. A funeral service was held Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel. Interment was at Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye. Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.sturmfh.com. Lannie George Zarn was born January 18, 1945, in Sleepy Eye to George Christian Zarn and Leona M. Zarn. On August 23, 1969, he was united in marriage to Bonnie B. Ahlbrecht. "All because two people fell in love," this union was blessed with two sons, Ryan and Jeff, and through the years, our two Stac's and five grandchildren. They shared their married life at their home in Sleepy Eye and their lake home on Lake Winnibigoshish near Bena. Lannie's list of friends made was endless. He was a people person and enjoyed telling one of his many hunting and fishing memories. He enjoyed many deer, pheasant, grouse, fox, and coyote hunting days with Ryan, Jeff, and friends and spent countless hours with his two dogs, Gretch and Mandy. In past years Lannie, Ryan, Jeff, and friends did a lot of trap shooting and were privileged to win the State AA Team Trapshoot eight years in a row. Lannie attended Dunwoody Institute for autobody and was employed for many years at Mathiowetz Body Shop and in 1990 became co-owner of Lakeside Auto Body. Lannie had a love for the "Great Outdoors" and all of God's creations. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing in bygone days, especially several fly-in fishing trips into Canada. He and Bonnie have a love for the "North Country." They enjoyed their home on the lake, listening for the loons, watching the moon on the lake, and planting trees. He always looked forward to his favorite time of year, the autumn season with the grouse and deer hunting seasons. Lannie was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sisters-in-law, Lou and Joni; sister, Gloria; brother-in-law, Dale; and brother, Daryl. Lannie is survived by his wife, Bonnie; sons, Ryan (Stacy) and Jeff (Stacey); four beautiful granddaughters, Karley (Adam), Kallie, Natalie, and Sydney; one handsome grandson, Hayden; brother, Leon "Red" (Sandy) Zarn; and many nieces and nephews. Our lives will be extremely different as we adjust to living without Lannie so we ask for your continuing prayers. We trust that in time we shall be able to make that adjustment and cherish all the memories. We thank you for helping us share our broken hearts, flowers, monetary gifts, hugs, kind words, and food. God Bless you all! No cards will be sent.
