Maureen Reardon Obituary

Our wonderful sister, aunt, mentor, and dear friend Maureen P. Reardon, passed away from natural causes on May 25, 2025. She left us suddenly, just the way she hoped to move on from this life.

Maureen was born in San Francisco on December 11, 1947, and raised in San Bruno, CA. She graduated from Crestmoor High School and earned her master's in education from U.C. Berkeley. Her love of learning led her to a Juris Doctor law degree from Santa Clara University in 1988. She passed the California State Bar on her first attempt, no small feat.

An accomplished woman, Maureen had two successful careers, first in teaching at the California School for the Blind (CSB) and then as an attorney practicing family and trust/estate law. She returned to her roots after many years practicing law, to the CSB as an administrator. Maureen retired from CSB in 2018.

Maureen loved having a good time, camping, gardening, her kitties, and champagne, not necessarily in that order. She was passionate about the 49ers and an avid reader. Her sense of humor and joie de vivre will be sorely missed by those who loved her. She made many wonderful friends, too many to mention by name, and those who were her chosen family, you know who you are, enriched her life as she enriched theirs. Always there for her family, friends, and students, she helped so many on this journey called life.

The eldest of six children, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John Patrick and Timothy James. She is survived by her three sisters Kathy, Coleen, Eileen and her husband Greg McDonald as well as her nephew and niece, Nathan, and Hailey McDonald. Maureen was impassioned about human rights and education. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the organizations she supported:

The Southern Poverty Law Center – 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104

California Transcribers and Educators of the Blind and Visually Impaired – 8181Fillmore Dr., Anaheim, CA 92804-6721

A celebration of Maureen's life will be held at a later date. Until then, raise a glass of bubbles to toast her life well lived.

I was surprised and saddened to hear of Maureen's passing. I met her through my friendship with John and Tim. She was a sweet person, and I will miss her. Love to all the Reardons, a truly wonderful family.

Omg so sorry to hear about your loss of your dear Maureen. I was in communication with her during John´s illness. She was a classmate of mine and my husband Jim at Crestmoor high. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends.
