Michael McCoy Obituary

Michael McCoy, a longtime resident of Pacifica, passed away on September 3. He was born in San Francisco on October 13, 1942 and grew up in the Ingleside neighborhood.

After graduating from San Francisco Polytechnic High School where he enjoyed weightlifting and shot put, Michael served two years in Japan with the U.S. Navy. In 1964 he met his wife, Kim, with whom he shared many happy years until her passing. He worked as a driver for Pepsi Cola for 36 years, providing for his family with dedication.

Michael had many interests, including coin collecting-becoming certified to grade coins-and palmistry, where he built a notable collection of first-edition books. He once even read the hand of actress Trish Van Devere (wife of George C. Scott). In recent years he enjoyed traveling and dancing with his companion, Wanda Ross.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kim McCoy, and his sister, Michelle Laxague. He is survived by his son, Bryan McCoy, his daughter-in-law Tracey Dinar, and his companion, Wanda Ross.

Michael will be remembered for his humor, curiosity, and love of life.

Mike and I were both in grammar school together, Farragut. Spent a lot of time at his house. He always suckered me in to playing card and he always won. If you knew the family you would know why he would win at cards.
