Bruno Carnovale Obituary

Bruno Carnovale, after a grand life of 95 years, passed peacefully on June 3, 2022.
We invite you to celebrate his life and reunion in Heaven at a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 11 at noon at St Mark Church in Emporium, PA with Rev. Paul S. Siebert, Pastor, as Celebrant. A viewing will precede the Mass from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in the St. Mark Catholic Cemetery, Emporium, PA followed by a Military Service accorded by the Cameron County Memorial Detail.
Bruno was a first generation Italian American born at home to Frank and Constance Carnovale. Bruno married Marlene Wolfel, the love of his life, in 1948. Bruno and Marlene had six children, 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
In Heaven, Bruno joins his wife, Marlene, and his sons, Frank and Michael.
He is survived by four daughters, Debra Gschwendtner (David), St. Marys; Maria DiBello (Dennis), New Smyrna Beach, FL; Kathy Carnovale, Emporium; Laurie Carnovale-Horrocks (James), York, PA; two daughters-in-law, Paula Carnovale, Bloomfield Hills, MI and Elva Carnovale, Irvine, CA; 12 grandchildren: Paul Gschwentner, Alison Cole, Zachary Carnovale, Lucas Carnovale and Julia Manvel, Madeline Carnovale and Alexander Carnovale, Patrick and Dr. Aubrey DiBello, Angela Carnovale, Nicholas and Keith Horrocks; five great grandchildren: Caden Frank, Colton, Sienna, Melia and Frankie; sister, Rose Wortman Salter, Kersey; brother, Peter Carnovale, Warren; three sister-in-laws, Rosemary Carnovale, Helen Wolfel and Germaine Mayer.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Carnovale and Frank Carnovale; a brother, Frank Carnovale and a sister, Vickie Carnovale.
Bruno graduated Johnsonburg H.S. in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Interior Communications Electrician aboard the U.S.S. Neuendorf DE 200. Bruno earned a degree in electrical construction and worked as an Electrical Designer and Supervisor at Sylvania for 40 years.
Bruno served his community as Mayor and Councilman for 51 years. In 2017, he was honored as PA's Mayor of the Year. Bruno was an electrical inspector in the surrounding counties until age 88 and volunteered his electrical expertise for many community buildings.
Bruno belonged to the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, RNC, Int'l Assoc. of Electrical Inspectors, Men's Club, PA State Assoc. of Boroughs, Emporium Library Board, the C&N Bank Board, the Cursillo, and St. Mark's Church.
Bruno loved his family and his friends. On many occasions Bruno officiated their weddings.
He enjoyed traveling to visit family, playing cards with his buddies, gardening, reading and learning. Bruno was beloved by his family, friends, and community.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library, 27 W. 4th St., PO Box 430, Emporium, PA 15834-0430 or to St. Mark Catholic Church, 235 E. 4th Street, Emporium, PA 15834
