Gary E. Winslow

1935 - 2022

Gary E. Winslow, age 86, of Benezette, died Wednesday, February 9th, 2022, at UPMC Altoona Hospital following a brief illness.
A son of the late William K. and Elizabeth J. (Newell) Winslow, he was born on October 23, 1935 and had lived in Caledonia and Benezette.
Besides his parents, Gary was preceded in death by: his wife Leona (Smith); two sons, Scott and Michael Winslow; three sisters, Donna Woodring, Garnett Taylor, and Phyllis Ann Owens; and three brothers, Walter, Bruce and Jim Winslow. Gary is survived by: five children, Janette Leeper of Tipton, Wade Winslow of Altoona, Bary (Andrea) Winslow of Fayetteville NC, Jodie Winslow of Force and Pam (Ray) Mong of Benezette; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother William Winslow of Albuquerque, NM; and three sisters, Kathy Agosti of Hickory, Rena (Andy) Chileski of Byrnedale, and Janice Wright of Weedville.
Gary graduated from Bennetts Valley High School. He served his country in the U. S. Army, receiving the Parachutist Badge while stationed in Fort Brag. He worked at Stackpole, he was a self-employed lumberjack, and a Benezette Township Supervisor for many years. Gary worked in his scrap shop nearly every day, enjoyed going to the "store" every evening for his paper and loved his dogs as much as anything on earth.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, February 14th from 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Ralph M Geer Funeral Home of Penfield, PA. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Missy Smith.
Interment will take place in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Winslow Hill, Benezette, PA. The family suggests memorials to the Bennetts Valley Ambulance (PO Box 48, Penfield, PA) and will be accepting online condolences at www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com.
