John J. "Juke" Calla

1932 - 2018

John J. "Juke" Calla, 86, of 253 West Center Street, Johnsonburg died the Friday morning, Aug. 3, 2018 Day at his residence, following a lengthy illness.
John was born April 30, 1932 in Johnsonburg, son of John and Theresa Manno Calla. He married Pauline J. Holtzhauser on Nov. 9, 1957 in St. Boniface Church, Kersey and she survives.
He resided in Johnsonburg all his life and graduated Johnsonburg High School Class of 1950. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Church and he had been a member of the Prince of Piedmont Club
John was a Korean Era Army Veteran, serving as a Corporal with the HQ Co SP TRPS USARAL, Alaska. He had been employed by Keystone Carbon Co. for many years retiring in 1997. He had also worked at John's Riverside in Ridgway for 10 years.
In addition to his wife at home, he is survived by his children: Michael Calla and his wife, Mary Beth, of Sharon; John C. Calla and his wife, Robin, of Ridgway; Regina, Mrs. Dave Myers of Johnsonburg; and Peter Calla and his wife, Kelly, of Sharon; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Stella Maddalena of Ridgway; and Delores, Mrs. Jack Carroll of Andover, Massachusetts. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive
Juke was predeceased by his parents; a son, David Calla; a grandson, David Calla; brothers: Fred, Bruno, Louis and Frank Calla; and sisters: Fannie Calla, Jennie Calla, Ruthie Cherry, Madge Casciani, Rose Wolfe and Angeline Sidoni.
A Mass of Christian Burial for John J. Calla will be conducted at the Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg on Monday, Aug. 6, 2018 at 10:45 a.m. with Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be held at the Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg.
Friends will be received at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home 401 Chestnut Street Johnsonburg, Pa. Sunday evening, Aug. 5, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home on Monday morning at 10 a.m.
