Margaret Akers Obituary

Margaret A. Akers, age 85 of Terra Cotta Road, Johnsonburg, died October 3, 2025 at Pinecrest Manor.  A daughter of the late Edward and Maria (Vornbaum) Gerg, she was born on September 22, 1940 in St. Mary's, PA.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by: her husband, Richard "Muggs" Akers in 1982; and a sister, Judy.
Margaret is survived by: two children, Tony Akers and Andy (Erica) Akers of Johnsonburg; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Edward Gerg of Ridgway.
Margaret worked as a Molding Operator for Powder Metal Products of St. Marys for more than forty years, retiring in 2008.  She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was an accomplished equestrian and enjoyed animals and fishing.  She was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Penguin Fan, a general sports fan and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.  She was raised in St. Marys and lived in Johnsonburg since 1963.
There will be no visitation.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests memorials to the Elk County Humane Society and will be accepting online condolences at the Ubel Funeral Home website (www.nedzafamilyfuneralhomes.com).
