Victor Chirillo Obituary
He was born Aug. 25, 1921 in Italy, son of the late Frank and Mariannina Notariani Chirillo.
He married Marie Pastore on Oct. 4, 1949 in Italy. She died Jan. 28, 2012.
He resided in Johnsonburg since 1936 and had attended school in Italy.
He was a WWII Army veteran serving overseas as a PFC with the 1045th Army Air Force Base Unit. He was involved in the North Apennines, Southern France, Europe, Tunisia, Rome-Arno, Air Combat Balkans and Normandy Air Offensive Campaigns. He received the Distinguished Unit Badge, EAME Campaign Medal with seven Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
He owned and operated Chirillo's Men's Shop from 1950 to 1986 and continued to do tailoring service until 2015.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Church, VFW, American Legion Post 501, Johnsonburg Elks, and Johnsonburg Senior Center.
He is survived by two daughters, Norma, Mrs. Dwain Seese of Shelocta, and Nella Chirillo and her partner Helen Strayer of Summerhill; two grandchildren, Denise Friedl of Indiana, Pa., and Robert M. Friedl and his wife Amanda Steiner Friedl of Kittanning; and three great-grandchildren, Mikal Morton and Ella and Evan Friedl.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Frank Victor Chirillo; three brothers, Anthony "Tony," Edgidio "Gino" and Armando Chirillo; and two sisters, Louisa Siriani and Irene Bevacqua.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service for Victor F. Chirillo to be conducted at the Anthony F. Ferragine Funeral Home, 401 Chestnut St., Johnsonburg on Thursday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. David J. Wilson, pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg.
Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Johnsonburg. There will be no visitation.
Military honors will be accorded by the Johnsonburg Servicemen's Detail. Detail members are asked to assemble at the funeral home Thursday morning at 10 a.m.

I remember Vic as always smiling and pleasant. Always well groomed.
I visited Vic in his apartment a few years before he died. He answered several questions about our family tree and the Chirillo/Gigliotti/Notarianni/Aiello connections and ancestry.
He showed we an amazingly beautiful piece of crochetting his wife did - it was very large, gold in color and a very complex pattern.
Vic was truly a wonderful person

Vic was one of the nicest gentleman I ever knew
Always smiling, always upbeat and a joy to be with
I recall the last time I saw Vic at his apartment in Jbg -- We talked. Drank some wine. He showed me the amazing embroidery pieces his wife made. They were amazing. I will never forget that day
