Winifred D. "Winnie" Lanehart

1938 - 2024

Winifred D. Lanehart (Bowie) Age 86, of Suitland and Mechanicsville, MD, died on March 12 ,2024 she was born to Samuel I. Bowie and Florence Elizabeth (Rye) Bowie on March 1, 1938 in Nanjemoy, MD. The beloved Wife of the Late Chester A. Lanehart JR. whom were Married for 54 1/2 Years before his passing. Winifred worked for the department of transportation and H&R Block as a tax advisor for many years before deciding to retire. In Winnie's free time she loved Bingo, crossword puzzles, Going out to eat, Playing games on her tablet, catching up with friends and family but most importantly she loved to crochet! Winnie was known for her generosity of donations to Morningside Fire house & Mechanicsville fire house from Thanksgiving dinners to crochet blankets. She was the mother of Tinya Blake and the Late Chester A. Lanehart III and Grandmother of Mark Bobinger, II., Tabitha Couch, Tiffany Doyle, Thomas "Scooter" Blake, Krista Littleford(Lanehart) and Chester Lanehart, IV.; Great grandmother of 7. She was preceded in death by her father and mother; Her Husband Chester A. Lanehart JR. Son Chester A. Lanehart III. three brothers, David, Vernon, and Leroy; Three sisters, Helen, Leora and Ester. She is survived by her brother, Johnny (Charlene); sister, Joan Lewis; brother, Deryl (Jean); She will be dearly missed by all.

Family and friends will be received for visitation and service at Lee Funeral Home, Inc. Branch Ave. and Coventry Way Clinton, MD on Friday March 29, 2024 From 10am -12pm Followed by precession to Maryland Veteran's Cemetery Cheltenham, MD.
