Frank Bethany Obituary

Frank Bethany
May 26, 1946 - December 1, 2023
At the age of 77, William Frank Bethany passed away on Dec 1, 2023. The son of Ernest Bethany and LaVerne Davidson, he was born May 26, 1946, in Berkeley, CA, grew up in Point Richmond, and graduated from Harry Ells High in 1964. He and his high school friends spent many a day surfing in Santa Cruz and Bolinas.
While in the Army, Frank was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he worked in the base veterinary hospital, leading to an early career in veterinary medicine. He was a vet tech at San Francisco and East Bay animal hospitals for over 20 years. His subsequent career was in sales and customer service in the construction industry and for the past five years, he provided customer service for Leo's Construction & Painting in Sonoma. In the early 1980s, Frank was the manager of the country band, Osage.
Anyone who knew Frank knew him as a fun-loving, playful man. He was kind, generous, a good listener, and a loyal friend. A member of the Diablo Valley Corvettes Club, his two Corvettes were his pride and joy. He loved the ocean and spent 30 years salmon fishing on his boat, the Sea Spree, he loved animals, loved watching birds in the backyard, and loved to BBQ.
Frank moved to Sonoma in 2008 to be with Debra van Stigt. They were married in 2013 and recently celebrated ten years of marriage.
Frank leaves his wife Debra, her daughter Annalies Mull (Allen), and his two granddaughters Harley and Holland, as well as his beloved cousin Janet Roby (Art). In 2008, his extended Bethany family in Mississippi found him. As an only child, it gave him great joy to be welcomed into this huge, loving family.
As per Frank's wishes, his ashes will be scattered in his favorite fishing and surfing spots. Donations in Frank's memory can be made to Birds of a Feather Rescue (https//www.gofundme.com/f/birds-of-a-feather-needs-you-again-this-winter) or Pets Lifeline in Sonoma. A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.

It´s been a little while since Frank has passed. Frank has been a good friend to John and I. John has known him a lot longer. I´ve known him about 40 years. I cut Franks hair for many years. We talked about a lot of things during those sessions. I keep saying to John from time to time I just can´t believe Frank is gone. I just figured Frank would live forever. I know that is silly, but I just thought he would. Frank and I fought cancer at the same time. I´m glad he recovered from that. I just want to say thanks being a great friend to John and a great friend to John and I as a couple when we were together. You are a legend and will in live on forever and will never be forgotten. Love you Frank. And Deb I hope you´re doing OK. I hope you´re getting along and just know that you are thought of often. You were a big part of Frank`s life. Thank you for making him happy and so glad that he had you in his life. May God be with you here on earth because I know Frank is with him in heaven. Forever loving and missing you Frank- Shirley Rowles

Beautiful tribute to Frank. Love the photo you picked, Debra. He was my oldest friend from high school. He was so much fun and a great jokester. A great listener. We had some long talks about anything and every thing. I dont think he ever met someone who didn't become a friend along the way. I will miss him dearly. My condolences to his lovely wife, Debra, along with his family and friends.
