Charles Henry McGahey

1952 - 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Charles Henry McGahey announce his passing after a lengthy illness. He was born in Dafter Michigan on March 29, 1952 and passed away in Sault Ste. Marie Michigan on August 26, 2018.
Charles's best friend and long time companion was Gus, his chocolate lab. He shared with us that he use to fry two eggs every morning, one for himself and one for Gus. After Gus passed Charles never ate fried eggs again.
Charles was a true yooper that loved living in the country Side. He loved gardening, hunting, playing cribbage, watching NASCAR races, Michigan Out of Doors and cooking shows. His passion was cooking and trying different dishes. He could have been a chef... Charles was an accomplished construction, tile installer and that was his trade for most of his life. He was self taught and definitely succeeded at any job he did.
Charles was a kind, humorous and proud soul that appreciated what people did for him, even though he might not tell you.
Charles was a private person and didn't want to burden anyone in his later years as he grew weaker.
Per Charles's request he wanted to be cremated with no funeral services. He will be laid to rest on September 5, 2018 at Donaldson Cemetery beside his Mother and Father.
We would like to thank War Memorial Hospital, Dr. Ockenfels, Dr. Mackie, the nursing staff and everyone on the second medical floor. Everyone went above and beyond to help his sisters thru this difficult time. I also want to thank Jeremy from Community Action for helping him with his personal care.
Charles is survived by his three sisters, Loretta Bumstead, Carolyn DiFilippo ,Charlotte Massie their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are in the care of Hovie Funeral Home.
