Roseanne Sabatine Obituary

Roseanne Cleary Sabatine passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on March 12, 2017. Her family was by her side at her resident home in Traverse City, Michigan.
Roseanne was born on November 10, 1939 in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan to Wilfred "Bill" and Irene Cleary. Christine, Johnathan (John) and Patrick (Pat) are her siblings. She graduated from Sault High School where she met Paul Anthony Sabatine. They married and had two sons, Anthony (Tony) and Andrew (Andy). Roseanne pursued a kinesiology degree from Michigan State University and taught physical education and health for many years. She loved sports and was a life-long Spartan fan. After living in various states, the family settled back in in Sault Saint Marie.
Later in life, Roseanne pursued a Master's degree and became a school counselor. She and Paul went separate ways and Roseanne settled in northern Wisconsin with her spouse Thomas Staniforth. Roseanne was proud of her work as counselor in Wisconsin where she provided guidance to students in need. In the last decade of her life, Roseanne and Thomas separated and she found her home to be in Traverse City, Michigan near her son Andy. Roseanne treasured friendship she made throughout her life. She enjoyed tennis, current events, volunteering, gardening and visiting with friends and family, especially her granddaughters.
Roseanne is survived by her first husband, Paul; son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Colleen; grandchildren, Paige and Aida; brother, Pat; and sister, Christine. She has now been reunited in Heaven with her son, Tony; second husband, Tom; and brother, John.
As a loyal redhead, Rosanne would have smiled with this one: "You're just mad that my hair color can be found in rainbows and yours can only be found in the dirt" – Unknown
A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at C.S. Mulder Funeral Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. Friends may gather at the funeral home that same day from 2 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be on a later date at Oaklawn Chapel Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for the SSM physical education program: Sault Area Public Schools in memory of Roseanne Sabatine for physical education, 876 Marquette Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, MI 49783. Amanda Matherson, Buisness director is available as needed: [email protected] or 906-638-3839 ext 5021. Condolences may be left online at www.csmulder.com
