April 10, 1923 - July 15, 2013 MISHAWAKA - Catherine Nadean Mahank died at the age of 90 on July 15, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on April 10, 1923, in Bedford, Indiana, to Elsie and Edgar Lunn. Although her last nine years were spent in Boca Raton, Florida, Catherine lived most of her life in Indiana. She married Camiel Mahank in 1943, and they were married for 69 years until his death on June 21, 2012. Together they raised three daughters, Sandy, Cammie and Mary. In 1955 Catherine helped her husband establish his medical practice in Mishawaka, Indiana, assisting him in the office for many years. Catherine attended Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois, and Bethel College in Mishawaka. She was always active in her church, taught Women's Bible Study Fellowship classes, and held Bible studies in her home. She was a woman of strong faith, praying for her family members throughout their lives. Catherine was a loving, devoted mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her three daughters, Sandy Roughton (Ken), Camille Gruen (Richard) and Mary Mahank (Julius Csengody); her brother, Phillip Lunn; five grandchildren, Aaron Roughton (Lindi), Matthew Roughton (Natasza), John Michael Gruen (Tasha), Mark Gruen (Renee) and Mary Morse (Peter); six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Catherine will be remembered by her family for her gentle nature, sweet spirit, and unending patience. A celebration of Catherine Mahank's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, Indiana. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:30 am. Because of her lifelong love of Christian mission work, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the FUMC Haiti Initiative, the Navaho United Methodist Center (#581535), or Water for Life (#150802).
